Scholarships

The BGB Scholarship Fund was established in 1975 to assist sophomore members of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of AXO with buying books.

History

The scholarship fund was founded by a group of alumnae who met in the mornings for coffee and called themselves "The Early Birds." At the time, all other alumni groups and functions were in the evening. The Early Birds met regularly and collected funds for the scholarships through Bridge Club fees and from memorial donations. Unfortunately, this group no longer exists and the scholarship no longer has a regular source of income.

Since there is not a regular source of income for the scholarship, every donation counts! You can help fund this scholarship by giving as little or as much as you are able. (In the past, members gave from $5-$100.) As the cost of books has increase, the scholarship award for collegiate recipients has increased too. Today, because it cost a lot to buy books, the committee tries to award approximately a total of $500 to anywhere from one to three recipients.

Can you help us?
